Sponsorship of up to 70% for your further education

The aim of the funding programs in the states of Brandenburg, Bremen, Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, North Rhine-Westphalia and Saxony is to support professional training (courses). Sponsorship is available for every occupation group, including specialists and managers, part-time workers or women and men on parental leave.

Conditions and funding amounts vary depending on the state:

Training voucher scheme in Brandenburg (Bildungsscheck Brandenburg)

Who can benefit from the subsidy?

In order to make use of the subsidy available in Brandenburg, you have to be resident in the state. Furthermore, the costs of the training must exceed € 1.000. Unfortunately, full-time civil servants, apprentices, students and unemployed people cannot be subsidized.

How much is subsidized?

Up to 50% of the course costs (maximum € 3,000) can be subsidized.

What else should be taken into account?

The subsidy in Brandenburg is only available once per calendar year. The starting date of the training counts.

Training voucher scheme in Bremen (Bremer Weiterbildungsscheck)

Who can benefit from the subsidy?

Small businesses have to be registered in Bremen and may not employ more than 50 full-time employees. Applicants have to live or work in Bremen.

How much is subsidized?

The state of Bremen subsidizes up to 50% of course costs, the further costs must be covered by the applicant or his/her employer. For people who have not completed an apprenticeship / vocational training, a special ruling is in place. In these cases, the state of Bremen subsidizes up to 70% of the course costs. The maximum subsidy limit is € 500 in all cases.

What else should be taken into account?

The applicant’s annual gross income may not exceed € 26,500. For married couples the limit is € 51,200.

Training voucher scheme in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania (Bildungsscheck Mecklenburg-Vorpommern)

Who can benefit from the subsidy?

Companies that have a head office, branch or business premises in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania can apply for a subsidy for their employees.

How much is subsidized?

The subsidy for courses which are completed with a qualified certificate of attendance is up to 50% of the course fees per employee. If the conditions of the De-minimis regulation are met, up to 75% of course costs can be subsidized. In both cases this is a maximum of € 500.

What else should be taken into account?

The course must be started at the latest 3 months after the Bildungsscheck has been issued. The appropriation period is maximum 18 months.

Training voucher scheme in North Rhine-Westphalia (Bildungsscheck Nordrhein-Westfalen)

Who can benefit from the subsidy?

In North Rhine-Westphalia people who work in companies with a maximum of 249 employees can be subsidized.

How much is subsidized?

The state of North Rhine-Westphalia subsidizes 50% of the costs up to a maximum of € 500.

Training voucher scheme in Saxony (Weiterbildungsscheck Sachsen)

Who can benefit from the subsidy?

People with a primary residence in the free state of Saxony. Employees, apprentices and vocational students who are at least 18 years of age can be subsidized. In addition, other groups of people, such as unemployed non-recipients of unemployment benefit, can also be subsidized.

How much is subsidized?

70% of eligible expenditure, in other words, 70% of the course costs plus examination fees. For applicants resident in the directorate region of Leipzig including the former district of Döbeln, 50% of the eligible expenditure can be subsidized.

Applicants who have a monthly gross income of € 2,500 – 4,000 can receive a subsidy of up to 50% of the eligible expenditure.

What else should be taken into account?

The eligible costs of the training (course costs plus examination fees) must amount to at least €1000. Co-financing through the employer is not permitted.
